Project Overview
This Duro-Shield silicone restoration project was completed on a large commercial facility in Dublin, Ohio, just outside Columbus, in 2021. Spanning 80,000 square feet, the building had previously been roofed with a Duro-Last membrane. Over time, the structure experienced water intrusion, primarily around the interior scupper boxes, which led to isolated areas of wet insulation.
Our team was brought in to restore the roof using Duro-Last’s silicone coating system, extending its service life while avoiding the cost and disruption of a full tear-off.
Scope of Work
Wet Insulation Replacement
- Identified and removed water-saturated insulation, particularly near scuppers and interior walls
- Replaced with like-kind, same-thickness material to maintain proper drainage flow and slope
Membrane Repair & Prep
- Patched and reinforced existing Duro-Last membrane where needed
- Conducted a full pressure wash of the roof surface to ensure proper adhesion
Priming & Coating
- Applied Duro-Last’s two-part epoxy primer over the entire roof, including tie-in areas
- Installed two coats of Duro-Shield silicone at 30 wet mils per coat, delivering superior waterproofing and UV resistance
